It’s another New Year and with the beginning of 2018 we often find ourselves reflecting on 2017 and considering how we can make this year better than the last. Goal setting encourages us to focus on what is important in our lives. It helps us to identify ways to improve our financial, emotional, spiritual or physical wellbeing. Goal setting stretches us outside our comfort zone and challenges us to grow. It helps us to achieve our dreams and create the life we would like for our self, our family and our children.
Before you consider what goals you would like to set for yourself in 2018, take time to pause and reflect on what is important to you right now. Selecting one or two powerful goals is all you need to begin. The first step to setting your goals is to make them S.M.A.R.T; Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-sensitive.
Specific:
Define exactly what you want to achieve in black and white. Vague goals lead nowhere. Set a destination and get there.
Measurable:
A measurable goal produces positive results and allows you to monitor your progress along the way.
Attainable:
We all have good intentions when we think about setting a goal for ourselves but we often bite off more than we can chew. Challenge yourself, but ensure you can attain it.
Realistic:
Be sure your goal is realistic regardless of how big it may be. Is it possible for you to do?
Time Sensitive:
Every goal needs a time frame. One of the most motivational aspects of a goal is that is has an end. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it pushes you to keep going.
Here are some suggestions, which may help you to improve your physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
